my heart is full

i finally tackled my updo, hairsprayed hair from the wedding on Friday. I pulled out 22 bobby pins. that plus 2 days of swimming in the lake and running around in the sun equals a very scary hair brushing session. I only had to have Drew attack two knots though, so that was good.

my baby sister did it. she is now a married woman.

it was the most beautiful day, she was the most beautiful bride and there love story is beautiful. i don't believe there was a dry eye in the entire wedding.

that may have been due to the fact that my sister burst into tears walking down the aisle when she saw T. the love and respect they have for each just radiates off.

i am now laying in bed with wet hair, a sunburnt face and a full heart.

i had so much fun with my sister last week getting our manicures.

i had fun with all her friends and the wedding party, being crazy and loud and probably drinking too many mimosas.

i had fun with Drew, remembering our wedding and our love story.

it was fun dancing with my grandparents, my little cousins, my great aunt to "we are family"

i had fun with my friends who came to support my baby sister, as they have also been a huge part of her life. we may have had too many bud light lime-a-ritas.

listening to my dad's speech, and hear him toast to my momma. so precious.

listenting to my own wavey, quivering voice give my speech. ugh.

the flower girl reminded me about what it really is all about. life is simple, if you let it.

so yeah. a whirlwind of a four day weekend behind us. i am tired and not really looking forward to a 5am alarm clock in the morning.

in the last 48 hours I have been sad, sobbing, laughing so hard i was going to pee my pants, proud, nervous and just so happy for mandy and tyson.

it was like a 4 day weekend of all the emotions you experience in life, just shortened.

my heart is full :)

sunshine!

ya know how they say good times make you appreciate the bad?

i think it's the same with the weather.

if it weren't for those dreary months of rain, I doubt weather like we are having now would be so special.

but ya know how when it is raining, it's easier to say "okay, this will all be worth it, come one of those beautiful Pacific Northwest summer days..." and you suck it up and embrace the rain, knowing it will be over soon? Rent a movie and snuggle up on the coach?

i want to work on transferring that "weather" philosophy to life. When it's bad and "rainy", know that the sun will come, and it will be worth it.

just like it did today.

"he put a ring on it"

last weekend we trekked over to Lake Chelan to celebrate Mandy's last few weeks as a single lady.

i have heard stories of vacation rentals by owner.com going completely wrong.

not the case with us. it was sooooo cute :) loft included :)

went wine tasting and had dinner one night at a beautiful winery. this flight of wine, cheese and bread for $5!

so this are my cute sandals that I got from the Sam & Libby line at Target.

so after a few drinks at Senor Frogs and some dancing, a lady came up to me and asked if my shoes were Sam Edelman. I said, "No! I got them at Target. They are Sam & Libby!"

She asked me again and I was starting to get annoyed and said, "NO! They are Sam & Libby." I kept telling her, NO, NO, NO!  She so kindly informed me that Sam stands for Sam Edelman, it is his brand for Target. whoops.

did some mini-golfing.

sarah led us in a barre class one morning in our cute bridesmaid/bride tanktops :)

mandy is one of the most flexible people i know. ;) (right behind me and my dad) i don't think we can even come CLOSE to touching our toes...

after i dropped off my trust travel partner at the airport, i had a few hours to drive home by myself in the car. I think it was a mixture of being hot, tired, a tad hungover ;) and listening to sappy country music in the car, but I found myself tearing up thinking about my baby sister becoming a wife.
i was just so proud of her this weekend, and the woman that she is becoming. tyson is one lucky guy.

and then i made it home, safe and sound to my hubby :) who had even vacuumed the house for my arrival.

up next? a bridal shower :)

three day weekend=faces of lindsay

the weekend started off like this:

happy as a clam. we were off to canada to watch travis' lacrosse game.

but then this happened. look at my hand.

yep.

and THEN, the next day, black-hollowed out eye sockets and all, I dropped my phone. the screen shattered. i was trying to text after and some of the little glass shards got in my finger and my hand started bleeding.

but alas. i had a great excuse to drink bloody mary's/margarita's/ bud lights alll weekend. all i had to do with point to my nose ;)

life

so growing up i had my lake neighbor. he was my canadian buddy and he spent most of every summer at his beach, which was next to ours.

he was younger than me, but we were the best of buddies. we would play racketball, basketball, imagine our lives if we won the lottery and most importantly we played "diving for golf balls" game.

tonight he had a buddy over to the lake cabin and i looked outside while i was folding clothes and thinking about what I was going to cook for dinner and saw them sitting on the deck, looking at the lake, drinking some brews and just relaxing.

for a second, my heart ached. just for the innocence and imagination that we had when we were little. i didn't care what i looked like in my swim suit, he didn't care about his tan or 6 pack abs. we played and played and played until our moms made us come inside.

for a split second (i don't think it helped that i had country music playing in the background) I just got really sentimental for the olden days.

what if i had taken a different path?

what if instead of leaving 2.5 minutes from where I grew up I lived 250 miles away? or halfway around the world?

what if instead of going to college I had decided to travel and found a new place to call home?

what if i hadn't gone to WWU and had not ended up meeting Drew?

i just had this weird fleeting moment of "what if?"

i was kinda bumming and walked into the bathroom.

I yelled at drew for leaving pee in the toilet (too much information? :)) and really started to wonder. is this what it's all about? flushing the toilet after my husband???

his reply almost made me cry.

"i didn't want to flush while you were in the shower because it turns the water cold!"

Having chores and car payments and lawns to mow and work to go to doesn't always seem like such a great plan when we have memories of the days when we were carefree and the world was ours.

ya know what? the world is still ours, and now we have a partner to tackle it with. :) and i wouldn't want anyone else on my side ;)
