crossfit?

i can run and run and run and run.

very slowwww but i bet i could run for 5 hours straight. :)

i like to call it my slow twitch muscles. they have that slow easy pace ingrained in them after 10 plus years of running the exact.same.pace.

can i do a pushup? not one.

a pull-up? never in my life.

if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll get what you've always had.

okay fine.

so i sign up for Cross Fit. all the rage. psh. how hard can it be?

you guys. today was my first class.

i was like a beached whale.

after the coach saying that we would learn squats and burpees and then do a workout with those two moves, I giggled. piece of cake. pshh. i have run half marathons people. i can do some squats and some burpees.

alrighty then.

our workout?

10 squats
10 burpees
200 meter dash

repeat
repeat
repeat
repeat
for 8 minutes.

then

5 squats
5 burpees
100 meter dash
repeat
repeat
repeat
for 6 minutes.

was i laughing by the second round of those squats? umm no.

by about the 20th squat, i could squat down but then i just was stuck. i couldn't get back up :)

and don't even get me started on the burpees.

the coachs warned us that some of the moves would be more natural while other ones would be like a toddler learning to walk.

jumping my legs out backward into pushup position makes me look like a mound of jello.

i think there was a point where I just laid face first on the rubber flooring, too tired to even care about the germs. :)

i CANNOT get it right.

ugh.

so much for that graceful, piece of cake crossfit thing.

but im gonna go back on Wednesday. if I can walk that is.
:)

loved this from the email we got after signing up for the CrossFit program:

give yourself some grace.
