my first weekend recap :)

i used to hate looking at blogs were the sunday night post was titled "weekend recap" blah blah. Why did I hate them? They made me SO jealous. I wanted to go out to brunch with girlfriends. I wanted to wear cute outfits and do fun things. I would get so resentful and feel SO bad about myself. My weekends? SO lame in comparison.

It was the typical case of "hmm. maybe if I go back to grad school, THEN I will have fun." Maybe if I decided to move into an apartment downtown, THEN I would have fun and be social. Wait. No. When I finally buy a HOUSE then I can host fun Girl's Nights. OOhh. I can't wait to get engaged and have fun pictures from MY bridal shower."

Ya know what. getting these things doesn't magically MAKE you a fun, cool person with a fun weekend recap. You don't get a new place and magically you turn into a fun person with matching placemats and a pre-set dining room table. :)

you are the same person. with the diamond ring, or without. with a home mortgage or living with the parentals (hehe). With those CUTE nordstrom wedges or without. trust me. :)

for some reason I think this all came together for me this weekend. I wasn't so preoccupied with the "next thing" on my list or where I want to be in 5 years. (2 kids in case you were wondering :)

i just soaked it all up. and it was one of the best weekends I have ever had.

so without further delay, here is my WEEKEND RECAP :)

i had my first bridal shower this weekend. it was so PERFECT that is gets it's own post coming up soon :) and this is the so NOT lindsay-like dress that I got for it. :) I literally walked into the store, took a deep breath and told the worker I hate shopping but I need a dress for my bridal shower.

I thought she was crazy when this is what she FORCED me to try on. I said WHATEVER and went with it :) it also may or may not have been the most expensive article of clothing that I own. anyone wanna borrow it? we gotta get lots of wear out of it :) a little Kate Middleton esque don't cha think? ;)

my daddy took me out to breakfast. I had cornmeal pancakes. OH MY GOSH. they have some oatmeal ish texture and are kinda sweet (SLIGHTLY like cornbread?). THEY WERE SOOO AMAZING.

since my sister was home for the shower, we had Saturday morning donuts downtown. It was SO fun. and then we went to Target. really? what could be better? :)

saturday night we had a pizza party/final four march madness game party :) miss francesca brought over this LOVELY cake for the occasion.

yep. frankie made us a MERMAID cake. and the barbie is wrapped in a FRUIT ROLL UP! We were SO impressed. and of course I had a piece. like really? that's what life is all about, baby. when you have a mermaid fruit roll-up cake, you HAVE to eat a piece. and not even worry about the Weight Watchers points :)

my cute boy in his sunday best (sunday best as in TV watching sweats) bringing in some of our LOOT from the shower. my dad decided that since it is half his :), it should be stored in his spare bedroom, not our family living room :)

like really you guys. I DREAMED of the day I would be posting pictures of my future husband carrying in our new "household" items. and eating a piece of cake and not freaking out about every bite. :)
